Administrative history

Bonchida 1263-ban jelentkezik először az oklevelekben. Románkori temploma a reformáció idején református kézre került. A Bánffy bárók katolikus ágának családi kápolnájában 1762-től ferencesek miséztek. A katolikusok 1781-ben szerveztek új plébániát, és 1801-ben építették templomukat. Bonchidát jelenleg Szamosújvárról látják el.
