Szittyay jezsuita szerzetes, katolikus pap volt, aki 1920-ban a jezsuita rend központi levéltárában (Exaeten bij Baexem, Hollandia) kutatta a jezsuita szerzetesek erdélyi és magyarországi XVI-XVII. századi jelentéseit. 1921-ben a spanyol állami levéltárban Simancasban Klebelsberg vallás- és közoktatásügyi miniszter megbízásából kutatta a magyar vonatkozású anyagot. Az iratanyag Szittyay személyes iratait, kéziratait, feljegyzéseit tartalmazza, legértékesebb része jezsuita levéltári, valamint spanyol állami levéltári gyűjtése. Ezenkívül néhány eredeti levéltári dokumentum is található gyűjteményében.
