Sánta István született Vajdaszentivánon 1926. nov. 18-án. A gimnáziumot Marosvásárhelyen, teológiai tanulmányait Gyulafehérváron végezte, 1951-ben szentelték pappá Nagyváradon. 1951-ben Gyulafehérváron káplán, 1952-ben Szászsebesen majd Ojtozban, 1955-től Gyergyóalfaluban lelkipásztor. 1958-1964 között börtönben van, majd 1964-től 1970-ig Sepsikőröspatakon, 1970-1972 között Kőhalomban, majd 1981-ig Vulányban plébános. 1981-ben elhgyja az egyházmegyét és 1987-ih, haláláig Arad-Mosóicztelepen plébános.
