Administrative history

1299-ben Barbanth, Borbánd néven szerepel, mint a káptalan birtoka. 1302-ben Szent Kereszt tiszteletére épült plébániatemplomát említik. A 12. században a Rajnán túli Brabantból származó telepesek jöttek ide, akik templomot is építettek. A hívek a reformációkor a református felekezethez csatlakoztak. 1715-től újraszervezték a plébániát, 1734-ben az egész lakosság megtért katolikusnak. 1920-tól katolikus iskolája is volt az államosításig (1948).

Archival history

Anyakönyveit 1723-tól kezdték el vezetni, az 1857–1945 közöttieket államosították, azonban az első kötet hollétéről nincs tudomásunk. Levéltárát 2003. szeptember 16-án szállítottuk be Gyulafehérvárra.
