Biographical history

Patay József (1886–1946) piarista tanár tartományfőnök. Nagykárolyban (Szatmár vármegye) született, a kolozsvári egyetemen szerzett latin és történelem szakos tanári diplomát, majd ugyanott, a piarista gimnáziumban tanított. Eközben 1922-től házfőnök, 1923-től a gimnázium igazgatója volt, 1925-ben hat évre romániai tartományfőnökké választották, illetve 1936 és 1940 között a Kalazantinumban tanított egyháztörténetet.
