Biographical history

Borbély István (1886–1932) teológiai író, irodalomtörténész. Egyetemi tanulmányait Kolozsváron végezte, ahol 1909-ban bölcsészdoktori diplomát szerzett. A kolozsvári unitárius gimnázium tanára (1911-től), majd igazgatója (1925–28). Unitárius lelkészi oklevelet kapott 1925-ben, majd a kolozsvári unit. teológiai akadémia tanára (1928-tól). Szerkesztő a Keresztény Magvetőnél (1919-től), majd az Erdélyi Irodalmi Szemlénél (1924-tól).

Főbb művei: Heltai Gáspár (Bp., 1907); Unitárius polémikusok Magyarországon a XVI. században (Kolozsvár, 1909); A magyar unitárius egyház hitelvei a XVI. sz.-ban (Kolozsvár, 1920); A magyar irodalom története (I-II. Kolozsvár, 1924–25.)
